On March 20, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued a policy allowing virtual inspection methods when verifying new hires’ identity and eligibility for workplaces that are operating completely remotely. If any employees are physically present at a worksite, in-person physical inspection of the I-9 documentation must occur. This policy is extended through November 19 and it is unknown if this will be the last extension.
